Such an interesting experience I had. The story was confusing at first, but made sense further the end and also the jumpscares were more than enough.

Good game!

Amazing game! I could feel the hairs on my arms shooting straight!

very ED, BDD, "would you still love me if i was a worm" game. hits home hard. So many of Leila's phrases that I've heard so many times, so familiar. man. good game.

This game contain a lot of symbolism which is mind-blowing. All of it connected to the same story

What a thrilling experience I had playing this marvelous game. The tension was so incredibly well built that even the sheer moments of silence were creeping me out, truly a magnificent atmosphere shaping. The best aspect of the game is probably the audio part, the game sort of gives you an uneasy feeling every time something plays, even the bare footsteps. What a wonderful game, I wonder if it got some inspirations from Franz Kafka, I also felt a similarity with Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion throughout the game. Easily an 9/10, I hope Matpat finds this game at some point and starts theorizing about the lore it has (oh, wait, he's not making content anymore, damn it). Keep up the good work, mate!

Enjoyed this game a lot, glad I was able to add it to my collection. It perfectly captures what an indie horror game should be. W game

I love this game, the protagonist creeped me out while the game never had trouble with pacing. Thank you for making this game!

(+1)

Absolutely fantastic game.  I have never disliked a protagonist more.  The story was GREAT!!

just finished playing your game and holy FUCK I HATED IT! It's so good, too good but it really worked well and i was scared the entire time! i hated the mannequin and poor spotty and leila. start at 47:21 for your game gameplay. thanks for the fun time!

Probably the best short horror game I've played on this site. The storytelling and details were phenomenal, and the pacing felt airtight.

10/10 I can't wait to see what else you cook up!

(+1)

I LOVED THE GAME! MY COMMUNITY DID TOO! THE JUMPSCARES AND SOUNDS ALL TIMED 10/10!!!!
EXCITED TO SEE MORE GAMES FROM U!

Today! We found the corpse of The Butterfly

Flesh (Visuals):

Took me back to the old PSX days, I enjoy gross body horror kind of things so seeing the changes and the finale was pretty awesome

Dismemberment (Difficulty):

Not difficult, wander around, find and go tasks as the story progressed

Infestation (Bugs):

Besides the intentional insects we encountered busting through windows, did not find any bugs that I noticed or game breaking

Corpse Integrity (Story):

The story is definitely a point for this game, it was interesting and sad as the story progresses, the story is top for this game

Something Off About It? (Ambience):

Did well, did make me uncomfortable and unsettled at parts, creeped me out a little bit here and there, the buzzing at points would get to me, did well with some scares.

How Long To Dismember (Playtime):

Took me around 30 minutes but I tend to look around and explore

Value Of Meat (Price):

Free! Free is always in the budget!

Post Mortem Thoughts:

Overall, great game, the story being sad, interesting and unsettling was horrifically good, some of the disturbing visuals I really enjoyed, hit me with some scares and panics, easy to play

Great job Kerineia, keep up the great work!

Seems the creator is deleting comments giving constructive feedback. Bodes well for the quality of itch games nowadays

Hi! I'm sorry for deleting your comment, there was a bot comment advertising NSFW games right above it and I probably misclicked.

Please feel free to comment again, I won't delete it this time :)

Thanks for playing!

Hi, I loved your game. I played it before Markiplier posted it.

(+1)

that screaming shocked me to my core dude, great game

(+1)

What a scary yet disturbing game! I hope you make more of these:

THIS GAME IS SO GOOOOOOD

(+1)

Coming from Markiplier's vid... Have to give props to how the storytelling with a creepy mood setting in with the horror... from my perspective of the butterfly transformation and its direct correlation to a chronically ill person and the significant other being ignorant annoyed by the stages and losing humanity part by part... and perfectly balancing that and with scary elements. The horror brought untouched parts of a horror genre that had never been portrayed before. Kudos to the developing team

Wow. There are too many things to praise about this game to fit into a single comment. My experience with THE BUTTERFLY was exotic for an indie itch.io PSX horror game. What makes it truly wowing is that this is the dev's first project. Keep doing cool stuff, you have a wonderful vision.
